SA Branch Report
John Boland SA Branch Chair
The SA Branch Committee kicked off the year with a planning meeting for the 2025-2026 period. After thoughtful discussion, it was agreed that the current event format, including a minimum of three Industry Breakfasts, a Meet and Greet and the AGM and Awards Night, will continue. A webinar will also be hosted as part of our program.
As you may recall, last year’s AGM and Awards Night was restructured into a cocktail-style event. Based on valuable feedback from our members and supporters, we’ve decided to revert to the original sit-down dinner format for this year’s event which will take place at the Hilton Adelaide Hotel on Friday 9 August.
In another exciting change, we’ve decided to try something different for our Meet and Greet event. This year we are hosting a Bowls Night complete with barbecue on Friday 2 May at the Sturt Bowls Club starting at 5pm.
Industry Breakfast
We kicked off our events for 2025 on Thursday 27 February at Franzon’s Hilton Hotel. The morning was well supported with 60 guests and we thank all those that attended, especially from interstate and regional areas.
The presentation “Strengthened Aged Care Standards Standard 6 – Food & Nutrition: Where are we up to?” was facilitated by Nutrition Professionals Australia director, Aged Care Quality and Safety Advisory Council member/panelist and SA committee member Julie Dundon, UnitingSA senior manager and SA committee member Simon Mills and UnitingSA chef manager Travis Jenkins.

The panel shared information on meeting the requirements of Standard 6 and what to expect when it is implemented. The presentation was interactive and provided an opportunity for all to share their journey in working towards the Standards which will be introduced on 1 July 2025.
Thank you to Julie, Simon and Travis for their presentation and a special mention to Lianne Brooks from PFD Foodservices for supplying the pasties which complemented the breakfast.
On behalf of the SA Branch Committee I would like to extend our best wishes for a successful year ahead. Please remember that the IHHC is always here to assist and collaborate with you. If you have any questions or issues you’d like to discuss or need help solving, don't hesitate to reach out. As the saying goes, “A problem shared is a problem halved.” If we don't have the immediate answer, we are likely able to connect you with someone who can offer the support you need.
We are here to help!
