SA Branch Report
John Boland SA Branch Chair
The South Australian Branch has experienced a particularly busy few months, hosting a range of events including our AGM, Cocktail Party and Awards Night, as well as industry tours.
At the AGM, which took place prior to the Cocktail Party and Awards Night, the Chairman’s Report and Financial Report were presented, showcasing another successful year for the SA Branch.
The Financial Report revealed a positive outcome for the 2023-2024 budget year, thanks to careful budget management. The support from our industry partners has played a significant role in reducing costs and we are deeply grateful for their continued assistance, particularly in hosting IHHC events.
During the AGM, all committee positions were declared vacant and a new committee elected. I am pleased to announce the IHHC SA Branch Committee for 2024-2025:
• Chairman: John Boland
• Treasurer: Linda James
• Secretary: Kathy Manning
• Michele Smyth
• Julie Dundon
• Karen Nickels
• Kim Johnson
• Simon Mills
• Amy White
• Heather Schultze
We are thrilled to welcome Simon Mills and Heather Schultze as new members and are delighted to have Amy White return to the team. We look forward to another productive year with this dedicated team at the helm.
Farewell
It is with mixed emotions that we announce Sue Carpenter’s decision not to renominate for the committee for 2024-2025. We extend our deepest gratitude to Sue for her unwavering dedication, insightful contributions at meetings, and commitment to the industry. Sue has also represented us on the Hospitality Industry WHS Advisory Board. Her contributions to the IHHC have been invaluable and we wish her all the best in her future endeavours.
Cocktail Party and Awards Night
Held at the Hilton Adelaide on August 9, the Cocktail Party and Awards Night was a resounding success. The change in format did not affect attendance, with 90 guests enjoying an evening of delicious food, beverages, and excellent company.
Nathan Klinge, CEO of RSL Care SA, delivered an inspiring address and later had the honour of presenting the Excellence Award finalists and winners with their plaques and certificates. We extend our congratulations to all nominees and the winners, who you can read about here. These outstanding individuals will now advance to the national awards, which will be announced later this year at the IHHC National Conference in Perth.
The evening concluded with heartfelt recognition of our supporters, including the CBORD Group for 10 years of support and Ecolab for 20 years of support.
Facility Tour - Dominant
In August we had the pleasure of hosting two small groups for a tour of Dominant’s Bowden facility. As a longterm SA Gold Supporter, Dominant is renowned for supplying high quality cleaning products and systems across Australia.
During a delightful morning tea, we received an insightful overview of the company’s history followed by an informative tour of the facility.
We would like to extend our gratitude to Jarek Kowalczyk, John Razzano and Devika Deshpande for their hospitality. They shared the following:
"We were delighted to host IHHC members at the Dominant offices for a tour of our manufacturing facility and warehouses. The tour began in our Research and Development lab, where we formulate our cleaning products. We then explored our powder and liquid manufacturing areas, small and large fill stations and had the opportunity to showcase our tablet and sachet manufacturing unit.
Dominant’s products are proudly Australian made and it was a fantastic chance to demonstrate our capabilities to both current and potential customers in the industry."
Thank you once again to Jarek, John, Devika and the entire Dominant team for their warm welcome and informative tour.
